when branch becomes a root

you've been my branch, and now you are my root,
you taught me kindnes, by deed and word,
your knife was not a menace to a lambs's throat,
and only left its marks on wax of bees and wood
you've been my branch and now you are my root...

There'll be a time to call the ancestors myself,
Too tired, not able anymore to taste the joy of life
And then the branch I am right now, still bathing in the light,
Will long for earth in order to become a root.
